Reasons for the 404 Error
WordPress themes are designed to handle any URL that cannot be resolved to:
a page
a post
a directory controlled by WordPress
Therefore, when a folder resides within wp-content, WordPress interprets it as:
“Oh, that’s not a page — displaying the 404 template.”
To avoid this issue, place the folder in the public_html root directory, effectively bypassing WordPress entirely. Upload it to /public_html/brick-calculator/
Even if the folder is positioned correctly within the root, WordPress may still respond with:
“404 — I am unfamiliar with this path.”
Why does this occur?
Because each of your Kelvin Timber sites includes a catch-all rewrite directive in .htaccess:
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
This line indicates:
🛑 “ALL requests are processed through WordPress, without exception.”
